A delivery route planner is software that schedules and sequences stops for fleets delivering goods and services. Also referred to as delivery routing software or route optimization software, a delivery route planner may include more features than the core route sequencing functionality like fleet visibility, on-demand dispatching, driver feedback, real-time optimization, and machine learning enhanced routes. With a delivery route planner, a company has the ability to not only create more efficient routes, but is oftentimes also able to utilize machine learning and driver and customer feedback to improve the overall performance and process of delivery.

n a recent study by Cerasis, research found that of the major trends in last-mile delivery for 2020, many centered around the idea that digital and technological features will serve as a competitive advantage for most supply chains. Software such as a delivery route planner will allow companies to streamline their last-mile delivery processes, improve the driver experience, while also creating a refined customer delivery experience.
